The Windrose Demo sent waves through the gaming community, giving fans a pirate RPG unlike any other. On April 14, 2026, the title was released in Early Access on Steam. According to SteamDB data, the game has surpassed 53,000 players. That being said, those who played the demo may be wondering whether or not their progress will carry over.
The answer to the question is no, progress from the Windrose Demo will not carry over to the Early Access release. Here’s more.

The Windrose Demo drew a ton of attention online. Therefore, it was also tested by many players who find the pirate-adventure genre interesting. The demo gave players an extensive taste of the game, allowing them to finish various starting quests.
Playing the demo gave players a chance to learn important skills, such as mining resources with a pickaxe, crafting armor, and fighting dangerous enemies. Ambitious gamers may have collected various items and upgraded their character significantly during the Windrose Demo.
However, the game’s Early Access phase does not allow players to retain this progress. This means you’ll have to create a brand new character, which can be customized as needed. This character will have a fresh start, complete with cutscenes.
Players will wash ashore on an unknown island where they must fight to survive with very little gear to use in the beginning. The first few quests push players to learn the game’s basics, such as setting up camp, crafting weapons, building structures, and unlocking the hidden mysteries of the island.
Those who played the game before may have already played these quests or similar quests before. Therefore, the process of repeating it all may be faster but also more monotonous. The initial steps of the Windrose Demo will be repeated as you enter the game again; however, this should not discourage you.
The Early Access version has a ton of new experiences to offer players. It expands the game’s world, allowing gamers to explore the vast seas in a more immersive manner. All the extra content is yet another reason to purchase the game.
