Even if you’re a fan of bullet-hell shooters, you could be forgiven for missing Sektori. The twin-stick shooter flew under the radar for many upon its initial release on PC in 2025, since it dropped in the middle of November when players are swamped with huge games and preparing for the holidays. Still, it garnered a respectable following as a cult masterpiece, and now with its release on Switch 2, it has the opportunity to grow even more. In fact, the Switch 2 version may just be the best home for it.
Fans of the beloved Xbox Live Arcade game Geometry Wars will immediately feel at home in Sektori. The pulsing techno thumping as you navigate your geometrically-shaped ship through legions of enemies fits right into that milieu. If it were simply a well-crafted homage to a beloved classic, that might be enough to make it worth your while, but Sektori actually adds a lot to the formula.
First and foremost, Sektori is a roguelike. The level layouts and enemy placements are procedurally generated, and the battlefield shifts as you play. As you dive in and learn its rhythms you notice that red indicates impending danger or a shifting stage layout. The stage itself constantly changes shapes, varying from very narrow rocket formation to a wider layout to a series of separated stage pieces that you can hop between using jump pads. That element of randomness makes every run feel different and keeps you on your toes.
