Some games can just make you a puzzle fan right out of the gate, and this one has the potential to be one. Rivage’s single-player gameplay will put you in a logic-based exploration, so if you’re a big fan of escape rooms, this one will definitely be for you. The reason it’s at number ten is that its release date is somewhat in the shadows, with mixed reports about it arriving by the end of 2026, and that the game is generally focused on an intimate puzzle adventure that doesn’t overpromise. Rivage’s demo is already available, so we take that as a sign that we’ll see it by the end of the year. The game will be available on PC, Xbox X|S, and PlayStation 5.

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales
A Journey Through Time
A well-known team from Square Enix, making turn-based 2D RPGs, is back with a top-down HD-2D RPG that could remind some of classics, such as The Legend of Zelda. The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is a single-player action RPG that puts you on a path of exploration, adventure, and combat while uncovering a major civilization mystery. You will do this in the shoes of Elliot and his fairy companion, Faie, across four different historical eras.
It landed in seventh place because even though it’s a traditional JRPG-like game coming from a famous studio, its full potential will depend on how well the action combat system is balanced. Having said that, it is scheduled to release on June 18, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and many fans are looking forward to that imminent release.

Outward 2
Adventure Without Handholding
Nine Dots Studio, which developed Outward 2, has already built its reputation among adventure fans with the game’s prequel, Outward, a game that was then even considered unconventional. What Outward 2 brings is an RPG experience with a heavy focus on realism and survival. The game will have no GPS markers, no scaled encounters, and a world where time and weather change just like in real life. Your character will have to eat, sleep, and even consider weight management before fights in this sequel that takes you to the Aurai region roughly 50 years after the first game.
What is also attractive is that this game can be played as a single-player experience or in co-op (online or split-screen), which surely offers more opportunities and attracts more adventure fans. However, it ended up in sixth place because the game’s demanding, seemingly punishing system isn’t for everyone. I have second thoughts about games like this myself, as I don’t like any survival-genre game that puts me in grinding mode. Outward 2 is coming out as Early Access on July 7, 2026, and will be available on PC. The full release will likely be available on other platforms eventually as well.

In the game, you are cast as a writer who is trying to find his lost scientist brother, only to end up in a liminal space between dreaming and being awake. The adventure focuses on explorable 3D environments and puzzles with a meticulous and beautiful design. Some of the puzzles are seemingly built around sound, and the whole game will make you think in new ways in order to move forward.
Sublustrum is in the fifth position because it brings an original take to this atmospheric adventure game. Even though it doesn’t have the bells and whistles of popular puzzle adventures, it seems it has all the ingredients to become one. The game is set to be released sometime in 2026, with only PC confirmed as the available platform for now.

The screenshots and videos available now already show a beautiful environment and detailed design that cozy games have, so I expect the game will find fans across the gaming crowd. It might even become one of the cozy games that changes the genre. Onimusha: Way of the Sword is a single-player adventure that puts you into fierce sword-fighting in Edo-period Kyoto, where you control legendary Japanese swordsman Miyamoto Musashi. Besides his obvious sword skills, the protagonist wields a powerful Oni Gauntlet that grants him superhuman abilities. He’ll definitely need that, because he needs to fight Genma, a race of immortal demons, that probably wouldn’t be frightened of a regular, human samurai.
The game’s rich fighting system features parrying and deflection that need to be used carefully, as well as a rich exploration atmosphere to cover the adventure segment of the game. There aren’t many games that remind me of The Blood of Dawnwalker, and if all goes well, it can easily be a game that people will be talking about years from now.
