Cult Vacui has officially landed across Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, and itch.io. The game comes from Dionous Games and LBRTY Games. It’s a point-and-click adventure and survival horror, presented in a late 19th-century setting on the remote island of Barra in Scotland.
Visually, Cult Vacui brings handcrafted pixel art, made by a real person and strictly not AI. The atmosphere has an eerie, creeping horror tone, complemented by an original cinematic soundtrack composed by Ascari. Take a look at Cult Vacui below.
What is Cult Vacui?
You play the role of an unsuspecting janitor who just took a normal job maintaining the Gladstone family’s isolated summer estate. The problem is that right before you got there, the island’s entire population was subjected to a gruesome blood ritual carried out by a fanatical cult.
The ritual didn’t quite finish, though, and now your arrival has thrown a wrench into their plans. Unfortunately, that also means you have become the last thing standing between the cult and completing what they started.
From there, everything becomes a race against the clock. You only have a few hours before the ritual’s final act kicks in. Exploring the island, gathering resources, solving puzzles, planning your next move, it all chips away at the countdown.
The game doesn’t lock you into one path, and the choices you make shape how things play out, leading to multiple endings. The puzzles are logical but still challenging. It’s actually inspired by reverse escape room-style games like Don’t escape by Scriptwelder, where the focus isn’t on getting out, but on preparing for what’s coming.
Cult Vacui is about applying the right approach at the right moment while the clock keeps ticking in the background. The game is now available on Steam with an introductory offer of 20% off, which runs until April 23rd, 2026. There’s also a free demo up on Steam.
