Summer continues. I know because we\u2019ve been leaving the house less and less often. So while I\u2019m trapped inside avoiding extremely hot temperatures, I can enjoy some of the games being added to PS Plus this month, including a big Ubisoft open-world adventure, a firefighting sim, and some oddball PS2 gems.<\/p>\n
On July 15, PlayStation officially revealed the next round of PS Plus Extra and Premium games that will be joining the subscription service\u2019s Netflix-like game catalog.<\/p>\n
The two biggest blockbusters this month are Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora<\/em> and Rise of the Ronin.<\/em> These are two very different open-world games, but each can provide many, many<\/em> hours of things to do and quests to complete. I bounced off Avatar<\/em> back when it first launched, despite being a sicko for James Cameron\u2019s science-fantasy franchise. But I\u2019ve since returned to the game and found its gorgeous, natural environments and Far Cry<\/em>-like gameplay, without the more annoying parts of modern Far Cry<\/em> games, really enjoyable.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, I love the two PS2 games Sony picked for this month\u2019s classics selection. Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy<\/em> and Indigo Prophecy<\/em> are weird, not-too-long games that play around with supernatural mechanics and ideas. Neither is great, but both offer up the kind of games we rarely get anymore on console.<\/p>\n Remember, to access, download, and play these PlayStation games you\u2019ll need to be an active PS Plus Extra or Premium tier subscriber. Essential tier subscribers don\u2019t get access to the game catalog. And if your subscription runs out in the future, you\u2019ll no longer be able to play these games until you re-subscribe.<\/p>\n Take note that not all of these games will be available starting today.
