We’ve got another ‘spot the skinwalker’ game to look at today, though this time you’re not working anywhere. Yes, even when you’re just trying to take a relaxing break in a moderately-priced hotel, anomalies still want to get in and cause you problems. Luckily, we made this Keep The Door Locked walkthrough you can check for solutions on how to deal with events, and how to get every ending.

Keep The Door Locked Walkthrough

Time to explain everything.

The Basics

Keep The Door Locked is another journey into the world of Anomaly games, and if you’ve played one before you’ll understand the basic idea. You’re a guest in a creepy hotel that you apparently booked into on the basis of cheap nightly rates, but now you appear to be stuck in some circle of hotel hell, with monsters roaming the corridors and picking off guests whenever they feel like it. Some of those guests might some to you for help, and many of them are just regular people… those that aren’t probably have something sinister in mind, and want to get inside your room. You also need to let other people stay, seeing as there’s a monster in your bathroom that’s waiting to eat you if you fall asleep alone. Yeah, a bathroom monster, it’s a whole issue.

That brings us onto the rules of the establishment.

Safety Rules

On your first day, hotel staff should slide some paper under your door entitle ‘Hotel Safety Rules’ (pictured above). This outlines the major dangers of the hotel. (Not all of the dangers, mind you.)

These sections give us a good opportunity to explain each one properly.

Bathroom Monster

“Never sleep alone. Let a guest into your room first.”

The Bathroom monster is the reason you can’t just say no to everyone showing up at your door for help. It lurks in the bathroom and definitely wishes you harm, but won’t come out if you have company sleeping on the floor. So saving other guests also saves you, if being a good Samaritan wasn’t enough.

Door Knocker

“Not every knock is human. Check the visitor before opening.”

This is the classic ‘Anomaly’ bit. Some guests will display weird behaviour and you’ll need to turn them away. You can check for signs of odd behaviour with the CCTV camera, and by looking through the peephole. We’ll talk about this a bit more in the Spotting Anomalies section below.

Window Seeker

“Hear something outside? Check the window. “

This one I haven’t mentioned yet, but you’re probably going to hate this guy pretty soon. The Window Seeker wants to get in the window and do who knows what, but it’s probably not something that will end well for you. Fortunately, he’s a bit shy. If you hear tapping or groaning noises outside the window, hit F to interact with the curtains and pull them open. If he’s around he’ll scamper off.

Make sure you keep on top of this. The longer you leave him unwatched, the close he’ll get.

Sanity

To make it through your stay, you will need to keep an eye on your Sanity. This is displayed at the top of the screen. Like some similar titles, this drops when you see something unsettling, and if you make the wrong choices.

You can restore Sanity by:

Sleeping (As long as you’ve abided by the rules.)

Eating Pizza. (See the Pizza Man event below.)

So that’s the gist of it. Let in normal guests. Turn weird ones away. Once you have some normal guests in your room, you can sleep. Check the window for the Seeker. Stay sane by eating pizza. Survive enough days to find a way out.

Spotting Anomalies

One of the important things in Keep The Door Locked is learning which potential guest might be an anomaly, and which are legit. Here we’ll explain a few common signs to look out for.

Twitching

The visitor’s head abruptly twitching form one side to the other is pretty concerning, and not something that should be happening.

Strange Voice

A voice that seems weird or distorted screams ‘something’s off’. Deep voiced visitors aren’t necessarily evil.

Shaking

People that seem to be shaking on the spot are definitely something you should be suspicious about.

Translucent

You might get a warning that there’s a translucent figure walking around. After, you might get a visitor that looks normal enough at the peephole, but looks partly see-through on the CCTV, more than enough reason to keep him out.

Unloaded Texture

This one got me. When you first check the peephole, the visitor’s texture appears incredibly low res. The tricky part, at least when I encountered this, was that on a second check it looked normal, so I dismissed it as a glitch. I was horrified to then discover that this was completely intentional when I let the guy in and got the dreaded red text. Learn from my mistake.

Events

Aside from normal guests and anomalies trying to get in, there are a number of other events that you might encounter as you go.

Pizza Man

Sometimes a pizza guy will show up and give you a freebie. As long as nothing else looks off, don’t be shy about accepting the free pie. The pizza will appear in your room next to the laptop, and will restore Sanity when eaten.

Power Outage

If the lights go off, you’ll need to head out into the hallway and flip the breaker you find under the stairs. The flashlight comes in handy here.

Knife Guy

At some point you may check your peephole to see a Michael Myers-like figure with a knife looking threatening, who then runs away. You don’t have to do anything about that… immediately. Later, possibly a few days later, the front desk will call and

Cat

A lady comes to the door holding a cat and asks if it’s yours. It’s not, but… free cat. If you take it your cat will inhabit your room. Make sure to top up the little guy’s food and water every day. The cat will also protect you, you can withstand a visit from an anomaly… but the cat will disappear. Survival… but at what cost?

Katana Man

A man with a sword appears and says he wants to hunt the Window Seeker and wishes to use your room as a base of operations. He will take out the Window Seeker alright, and break the window… but that just creates more problems. You might want to send him away unless you want to unlock a certain ending.

Hazmat Crew

Two guys in hazmat suits show up to warn you about some spiders in the vents. They’re actually pretty chill and will take away any spiders you happen to have if you let them stay.

Ceiling Spider

Ew, there’s something scurrying about on the ceiling. Must be what the Hazmat guys warned you about. This is an ongoing nuisance. You can take them out with bug spray, if you have any.

Roach King

A massive cockroach shows up at your door and asks for food. Surprisingly enough, he’s a pretty chill guy. If you let him in he’ll help himself to some of your pizza and then go on his way.

Door Breaker

This one you really need to worry about. Sometimes when looking through the peephole you’ll be met be a tall, white, bald figure with a grinning face. This thing will immediately try to break down the door. In response to this you need to hide under your bed. The thing will bust in, run around your room, and eventually leave.

Shadow Man

This thing will appear in the corner of your room. Shine the flashlight on it directly until it disappears. This should probably be your priority until it does.

Dreams

When you sleep on later nights you might get teleported to a strange room with several doors. We’ve picked the middle door several times to good effect here, but it’s potentially a random chance.

Nightmare

Without warning you may find yourself abruptly transported to a dark and ominous corridor. Your Sanity drains constantly here, so there’s no time to waste. Head towards the lights as quickly as you can. Movement upgrades really help here, but if your Sanity didn’t start out really ba,d you can make it on default speed.

Endings

So you’ve survived through 10 nights of horror. What next? Well, that depends on the ending that you want. There are currently four in the game. Let’s explain all of them.

Ending One – Tenth Day (Bad Ending)

This is the one you’re most likely to run into. One completing ten days in the hotel, the man from the front desk will show up at your door and offer you the key to leave. If you take it, you can walk out and into the hallway.

As you do, however, the Door Breaker will appear and chase you. There’s a chase sequence after, but it ultimately leads you to a dead end where the Door Breaker grabs you and drags you away.

Ending Two – Skeleton Key (Good Ending)

This is an even that can happen after the tenth day. You’ll hear a knock and see a skeleton through the peep hole. Open the door and you’ll find the skeleton lying on the floor with a key in its hand. Take the key. Once you’ve done that, use the phone to call front desk and get him to let you leave.

Once you reach the same exit hallway before you reach the T Junction where the Door Breaker charges you, interact with a door on your left, the prompt shoulder read ‘Enter Truth’. In here you’ll find a hallway, and a gold door. You don’t know what’s through it, but you have a good feeling about it.

Ending 3 – Weird Granny’s Ritual (Very Bad Ending)

Like the Skeleton, at some point after Day Ten, you may get a visit from and NPC named weird Granny. Let her in and accept the key she offers you. Then, like with Ending 2, call the front desk and as him to let you out. Once you’ve done that you should find yourself released into the hallway again.

For this ending, you need to pick the door on the right. This will take you to an eerie candlelit hallway. Follow it to the end and something is waiting for you there.

Ending 4 – Katana Man’s Revenge (Special Ending)

This is a special ending you get if you let the man who wants to kill the Window Seeker in. When the Seeker appears, he will go through with his promise and launch out the window at the monster. Both disappear. You are then left with a broken window you can leave through. You can go through it to get the ending… though it still won’t go well for you.

That covers about everything you need to know for now. Hope you enjoyed this Keep The Door Locked walkthrough. We’ll also endeavour to update this with new update content as it arrives.
