As reported by Variety, “Mario dominated the international box office in its second weekend of release, collecting $83.5m from 81 territories.” It added the animated film has made $308m in North America and $320m overseas, with $37.4m of that coming from the UK and Ireland.<\/p>\n
However, while things are looking good right now in terms of who has the top spot, the publication noted that The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will see continued ticket sales “likely towards the 1bn mark” over the next few weeks, we still have some pretty big films to come this year, such as Spider-Man: Brand New Day and The Odyssey from Christopher Nolan. Toy Story 5 and Avengers: Doomsday are also on the cards for this year, and these could knock Mario and co off the top.<\/p>\n
While I am not much of a Marvel goer personally, I do have a soft spot for Woody and Buzz, so I will be taking my kids along to Toy Story 5 for sure.<\/p>\n
