Two of our games from The Good section were the two most anticipated games of the month. It’s a unique genre mashup presented in a way we haven’t seen before. It has gorgeous 3D visuals that make it look like a playable Disney animated film. Our reviewer concluded “Whether solving environmental puzzles or taking on foes, every moment feels engaging, creating a well-paced journey across multiple regions, each brimming with personality”. People of Note is the lowest profile entry in The Good section of The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games April 2026.

Pragmata

Pragmata is a third-person shooter from Capcom. It has a unique hacking mechanic, where players can weaken foes by speedily connecting paths while lining up shots. The game also has a gorgeous sci-fi setting. Our reviewer wrote “Stunning space vistas and unhinged AI-generated renditions of Earth create memorable set pieces that perfectly progress the story, flesh out the world and leave a lasting visual imprint”. Pragmata was one of the most anticipated games of the month, and was an easy inclusion in The Good section of The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games April 2026.

Saros

Saros is the Lovecraftian spiritual successor to Housemarque’s third-person shooter, Returnal. It’s also a Roguelite with bullet hell elements. Our reviewer wrote “The combat system encourages aggression, making each encounter a tense and enthralling battle where risk-taking is rewarded. While the story is much more present than its predecessor, it never interrupts the action, complementing the deep and complex systems”. COGconnected awarded Saros 96/100, which makes it the highest scoring game in The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games April 2026.

The Bad

Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss

Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss is a first-person horror investigation game by the same developer that made Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong. The game has a great world and atmosphere, but struggles a bit in the gameplay department. Our reviewer wrote “The investigation systems are deep, yet buried under a clunky complex UI that often turns discovery into frustration”. Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss still scored 65, which makes it better than most games that appear in Bad sections of articles like The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games April 2026.

Jay and Silent Bob: Chronic Blunt Punch

Jay and Silent Bob: Chronic Blunt Punch is a 2D beat ‘em up about the world and characters from Kevin Smith’s View Askew films. It’s below average in terms of level design, but is elevated by its combat. Our reviewer concluded that Jay and Silent Bob: Chronic Blunt Punch is a “fun homage to the world of Kevin Smith. Packed with jokes that capture the spirit of the stoner duo”. The game scored 70, which means it wouldn’t have been in The Bad section of The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games April 2026, if it had been released any other month.

Town of Zoz

Town of Zoz is a cozy life sim game with lots of minigames about cooking, farming, and building bonds. Our reviewer warned “if you have low tolerance for technical jank or slow-starting tutorials, you might want to wait for the first major patch”. That lack of polish is what (barely) landed Town of Zoz in The Bad section of The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games April 2026.

Do you agree with our The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games from April 2026?
