Treyarch has announced that new ports of the classics Black Ops 1 and 2 will be coming to PlayStation consoles next month.

Treyarch’s official account on X (formerly Twitter) revealed that these titles will be coming exclusively to PlayStation via Iron Galaxy, the studio that recently worked on the port of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 last year. This port will include everything both titles should have: campaign, multiplayer, and Zombies. For now, it’s unclear what these ports will include and whether players will be able to connect via cross-play with accounts still on PC and older Xbox consoles.

Why are Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 and 2 being ported to PlayStation?

One thing to keep in mind is that, for now, this port isn’t coming to either Xbox or PC for a clear reason. These titles have been available on both platforms thanks to Xbox’s backward compatibility. Since they were originally released for PlayStation 3, compatibility with PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 is complicated, to put it mildly. This is undoubtedly big news for PlayStation players who, despite the passage of time, haven’t played these games in several generations.

Related stories

For now, 2026 will also feature a remake of the legendary Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, which will avoid competing with Grand Theft Auto VI entirely this year and has moved up its release date to October 23, 2026, coming to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.

Follow MeriStation USA on X (formerly known as Twitter).
