It’s no secret that the rest of the gaming industry has been trying its hardest to avoid the behemoth that is Grand Theft Auto VI<\/em><\/strong>. The return of Rockstar’s open-world crime series isn’t due until November 19, yet the blockbuster title has been topping PlayStation Stores across the world since pre-orders opened on June 25, and one report made the eye-popping claim that it had generated $1 billion in revenue within its first hour<\/em>. Even in a year that will see the release of films like Dune: Part Three<\/em><\/strong> and Avengers: Doomsday<\/em><\/strong>, there will be no bigger media moment than the latest trip to Vice City, controversies over price, the ultimate edition’s contents, and physical media be damned. It’s created a unique vacuum where November will be mostly devoid of big releases beyond GTA<\/em>, turning September and October into an all-out battle royale.<\/p>\n

Mid-September is when things will start getting packed with one huge game after another. Marvel’s Wolverine<\/em><\/strong>, Insomniac’s long-awaited bloody game putting players in the shoes and claws of Logan, will release on September 15, just two days before Nintendo debuts the latest installment of its globally popular Fire Emblem<\/em><\/strong> series, Fortune’s Weave<\/em><\/strong>. Shortly after, on September 24, will be Remedy’s anticipated Control<\/em><\/strong> follow-up, Control Resonant<\/em><\/strong>, which has earned buzz as a potential Game of the Year contender, though it also shares the date with a new Harvest Moon<\/em><\/strong> and Silent Hill: Townfall<\/em><\/strong>. October, somehow, gets even crazier, with Gears of War: E-Day<\/em><\/strong> going up against Star Wars: Galactic Racer<\/em><\/strong> on October 6, new Rayman<\/em><\/strong>, Final Fantasy<\/em><\/strong>, Ace Combat<\/em><\/strong>, and Castlevania<\/em><\/strong> games scattered throughout the month, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4<\/em><\/strong> bowing on October 23, among other things.<\/p>\n

With so much traffic, it’s no surprise that Capcom has decided to change the date for one of its biggest upcoming titles. Onimusha: Way of the Sword<\/em><\/strong> has moved up three weeks from September 25 to September 4 on all consoles, getting it out of the way of Control<\/em> and Silent Hill<\/em> and now placing it closer to slightly lighter company in The Blood of Dawnwalker<\/em><\/strong> and Orbitals<\/em><\/strong>, debuting on September 3. The publisher undoubtedly wants to give the historical action fantasy a bit of breathing room since it’s the first installment in the Onimusha<\/em> series since Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams<\/em><\/strong> back in 2006. Steam Next Fest also helped create a ton of buzz for the title with one of the standout demos of the event that is available to download and try out now.<\/p>\n
