Crushed that we never got a third Mirror’s Edge game? Then Panline, a parkour game set for a 2026 Steam Early Access release, could fill that gap.
While it’s still a work-in-progress, it’s looking pretty impressive so far, with developer Viridian Matters showing off footage of your runner ziplining through the gleaming city. Story details remain sparse, but it’s nailing the vibe of the original Mirror’s Edge.
And, make no mistake, we do miss Mirror’s Edge. The original 2008 game left the door open for Faith’s story to continue but, instead, we got Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst, a reboot in 2016. The latter was more open but, while it never quite scaled the lofty heights of the original, it’s still fun in its own right.
A third game never materialised and there’s no indication that EA is working on one. So it seems like the perfect opportunity for Panline to step in and clean up. It looks stunning in action, as you can see from the below clip. Like Mirror’s Edge, it casts you as a runner, making deliveries around a gleaming future city.
However, there’s a catch. Watching the game in action, impressed as we are, it strikes us that Panline looks a little too close to Mirror’s Edge. EA can’t exactly copyright parkour, otherwise we’d never have got Dying Light. But we suspect Viridian Matters may have to tweak Panline’s aesthetic a little.
