Alright, who had Age of Empires: Mobile on their bingo card for the next Xbox first-party release?

It’s been confirmed today that the PC Edition of the game will release on June 23rd, 2026 across Steam, the Microsoft Store and PC Game Pass, featuring a new “PC-optimized experience designed for mouse and keyboard”, along with 4K visuals and crossplay with the mobile version.

Barring a surprise at the Xbox Games Showcase this Sunday, it’s set to be the only Xbox first-party release this month (with the likes of Halo: Campaign Evolved and Gears of War: E-Day expected to follow in July-September).

Here’s a bit more about it:

“Age of Empires Mobile: PC Edition brings the globally popular mobile strategy experience to PC with large-scale shared battles, alliance warfare, persistent empire-building, legendary heroes, and live events — now with controls and presentation designed for PC play.”

“For existing mobile fans, the PC Edition creates another way for them to continue to build an empire across devices. For curious PC fans, it offers a more casual and accessible strategy experience on desktop. And for new fans, it creates another entry point into the Age of Empires franchise with a new and different, strategy experience.”

It still feels weird to us that they’re bringing AoE: Mobile over to PC where many great Age of Empires games exist already, but the team says it’s meant to be “something different — and additive” for series veterans, and this specific version was “designed to help grow the franchise by welcoming new fans into the world of Age, while giving existing mobile fans more ways to play”.

Look out for Age of Empires: Mobile on PC later this month – we’ve just added it to our June Xbox Game Pass guide.

Experience exhilarating, rapid pacing with the strategic elements that PC strategy players demand: optimized mouse control and settings, full keyboard navigation, refined UI, and enhanced 4K visuals let you dive into swift and intense battles while forming alliances with hundreds of players to build a dominant empire.
