Bandai Namco has unveiled a new Digimon game, titled Digimon Up, which is set to launch sometime in 2026 on supported mobile devices. The upcoming Digimon mobile title will allow players to raise, battle, and power up their digital partners, and Digivolve them all the way from a Digi-Egg to a Mega form in the process.
Throughout the Digimon franchise, one of the core tenets of the series has been about the bond between a Digimon and its human partners. However, this bond has to be nurtured not only through battles, but also by feeding and caring for the Digimon in question. This playstyle first appeared in the Digital Monster virtual pet lineup, and was also a key component of the 1999 PlayStation title Digimon World. Over time, the Digimon game series has carved a niche as one of Bandai Namco’s more popular RPGs, with Digimon Story: Time Stranger being a successful example. Time Stranger‘s success led to Bandai Namco confirming that a large-scale DLC will launch in 2027.

Digimon Up Will Give Monster-Raising Fans Something to Enjoy
However, Digimon fans looking to go back to the series’ monster-raising roots will soon have a new game to sate their appetites. Digimon Up was announced during the Digimon Con 2026 global broadcast, and is described as “a Digimon journey that moves with your life.” Digimon Up will launch on Android and iOS sometime in 2026, though a precise release date and a list of supported devices have not been publicly posted as of this writing. A short Digimon Up trailer was posted by Bandai Namco to go along with the announcement. Though no gameplay footage was shown, each Digimon was depicted as a 2D sprite with intricate details. Digital monsters such as Greymon, Garurumon, and Andromon appeared locked in a 3-on-3 battle, though it is currently unclear what form the game’s battle system will take. Digimon Up allows players to select a digital companion from a select roster. Popular Digimon partners like Agumon, Gatomon, and Veemon were listed as some of Digimon Up‘s unique candidates for players to choose from.

After picking a Digimon partner, players must consistently feed and train them to make them stronger. With enough care and battle experience, players can unlock Digivolution and allow their Digimon companion to assume a more powerful form. For example, Agumon can Digivolve into Greymon, and subsequently evolve further into MetalGreymon and WarGreymon. Digimon Up will also include features like Digivices and Digimon Cards in some capacity, though it is currently unclear how they will be integrated into the core gameplay loop. Digimon Up will be a free-to-play game supported by in-app purchases, though time will tell what Bandai Namco has in mind for the game’s pricing models.
Bandai Namco Remains Committed to Making More Digimon Games
The upcoming launch of Digimon Up is just part of Bandai Namco’s ongoing commitment to bringing more Digimon games to the market. With Digimon Story: Time Stranger proving a successful endeavor, and the ongoing Digimon Beatbreak anime reaching international audiences, the long-running franchise shows no signs of slowing down. Along with Digimon Up, Bandai Namco shared a glimpse at the ongoing development of Digimon Alysion, an online collectible card game set to arrive on mobile devices in the future. Though Digimon Alysion had a closed beta test in the summer of 2025, the upcoming card game still has no release date. During Digimon Con 2026, Digimon Alysion unveiled an updated battle screen, along with improved animations and illustrations. The Digimon Alysion development team asked fans for their continued patience and support.
With Bandai Namco continuing to develop and launch more Digimon titles, the franchise’s upcoming game slate should have something for most fans to enjoy. However, time will tell how Digimon Up will stack up compared to the best Digimon games that the franchise has launched over the past two decades.
