Indie publisher AMATA Games is lining up a staggered rollout for its upcoming title Save My Scrap. The title builds on Fix My Junk., a free game by Unio Anou that picked up attention in Japan for its rich cyberpunk pixel art and an emotional story.

So, here’s the rollout schedule! The Steam version lands first on April 22nd, followed by the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5 versions on April 30th. Lastly, the Xbox Series X|S release trails behind on May 28th. Pricing starts at $10.99.

Alongside the launch, there’s a 20% discount on each storefront for two weeks starting from the respective release dates. However, the PlayStation Store deal comes with a catch since it is limited to PlayStation Plus members.

Save My Scrap is a visual novel with puzzles

You step into the role of an android mechanic hired by a doctor named Miomaru. He asks you to fix his ageing android, Harima, a machine that’s already close to failing. It starts out as routine work, connecting cords and swapping out damaged parts…

As you interact with both Miomaru and Harima, the process of repair begins to overlap with fragments of memory and unresolved history. Yeah, a bit like Ghost in the Shell.

The gameplay in Save My Scrap has a dual structure. On one side, there are repair sequences where you look inside Harima and solve mini games to fix specific components. Each successful repair reveals more about the past.

On the other, conversations with Miomaru and Harima play out like a traditional visual novel. Choices affect how they respond and how much of their story opens up. There’s also a quieter layer of world-building, where listening to the radio while driving offers glimpses into the broader setting and its culture.
