PC gamers have 13 major Steam game releases to mark on their calendars for May 2026. At almost halfway through the year, Steam has been home to some of the best games of 2026 so far, including titles like Resident Evil Requiem, MOUSE: P.I. for Hire, and Pragmata. Next month, Steam users can look forward to even more exciting titles releasing on the platform, including a mix of highly anticipated AAA and indie games.

Many of the bigger AAA games releasing in May 2026 are multiplatorm titles, meaning they’ll be available on consoles as well as on Steam at launch. However, Steam is also hosting some PC-exclusive game releases that players won’t want to miss out on. The month is one of the most jam-packed of 2026 so far in terms of new releases, so there will likely be at least something that players will find worth wish-listing.

This is not a comprehensive list of every game releasing on Steam in May 2026.

Steam Users Won’t Want to Miss These Games in May 2026

The month starts off strong with a double dose of indie games releasing on May 7. Indie publisher Annapurna Interactive is finally releasing Mixtape, a narrative adventure game with Life is Strange vibes about three friends and their mixtape of memories that players will experience through gameplay vignettes. Fans of indie action RPG CrossCode will also get to experience developer Radical Fish Games’s latest title, Alabaster Dawn, when it releases in Early Access on the same day.

Horror fans will want to make sure they have May 12 marked on their calendars, as it’s the release date for Directive 8020: A Dark Pictures Game. From the creators of Until Dawn, Supermassive Games’s Dark Pictures Anthology series features the developer’s now-iconic choice-based narrative adventures, and Directive 8020 marks a new era in the franchise. Players will have to survive as the crew of the ship Cassiopeia after it crashes on the planet of Tau Ceti f, as they face an alien organism that can mimic its prey, leading to a tense cinematic experience where player choices can affect the story’s outcome.

Just a few days later, the cozy indie open-world game Outbound lets players explore the world using a camper van as a home on May 12. It also features crafting and co-op elements, letting players modify their camper to suit their, or their friends’, tastes. A less cozy driving game releases the following week when Forza Horizon 6 hits PC via Steam on May 18. Microsoft’s premier racing simulator takes players across Japan in this latest entry, in what is set to be Forza Horizon‘s biggest open world game to date.

May 20 and 21 will see the releases of three exciting indie games on Steam, with Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core up first as the third entry in the Deep Rock Galactic franchise, bringing a new co-op FPS roguelite to fans. The following day, both Coffee Talk Tokyo and Zero Parades: For Dead Spies release, and each are follow-ups to acclaimed indie games. Coffee Talk Tokyo is a visual novel game where players serve coffee to both humans and yokai in a cozy Tokyo coffee shop, while Zero Parades: For Dead Spies is the successor to Disco Elysium from developer ZA/UM.

AAA Games like Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight and 007 First Light Headline May 2026

LEGO fans can dive into the LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight on May 22, marking the release of TT Games’ latest LEGO adventure. Legacy of the Dark Knight follows LEGO Batman’s journey to become the protector of Gotham, including facing off against the Caped Crusader’s iconic Rogue’s Gallery of DC villains. Gameplay-wise, Legacy of the Dark Knight embraces the Batman Arkham games’s style of combat, but with a LEGO twist. Also releasing on May 22 is Bubsy 4D, a new intergalactic 3D platformer from the wise-cracking bobcat.

Fans of games like The Sims have May 25 to look forward to, since it’s the day that indie life-sim competitor Paralives launches in Early Access. Like The Sims, Paralives is a sandbox life simulation game that allows players to create and customize their character and the world they inhabit. Paralives lets players engage in everything from building a career to falling in love and starting a family, and even becoming the richest person in town. With features like grid-less construction and split-level floors, Paralives also gives players the creative freedom to build their dream home however they see fit.

Soulslike fans have The Relic: First Guardian to look forward to on May 26. While the gameplay of The Relic: First Guardian looks similar to other soulslikes like Nioh 3 or Elden Ring, it differs with its Relic mechanic, allowing players to equip over 70 unique passives to alter how combat plays out. The game also features 70 bosses for players to test their skills and their builds against.

Finally, May 2026 closes with the release of 007 First Light, coming to Steam on May 27. The latest game from Hitman developer IO Interactive follows the origin story of James Bond as young recruit in MI6’s training program on his way toward earning the number 007. Between its intense espionage narrative and blend of action and stealth-based gameplay, 007 First Light seems like a must-play game for Bond and Hitman fans alike.
