Today, EA SPORTS has officially announced the details surrounding DLC for F1 25. Yes, this is last year’s game, but EA elected to forego a new release this year in favor of DLC. The F1 25: 2026 Season Pack will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC on June 3. This is the official video game of the 2026 FIA Formula One World Championship, despite just being DLC. If you have been under a rock, everything about Formula One is different this year, ranging from the drivers to the coverage (at least in America). You will find the latest rules and regulations for the sport in this update, along with the current lineup of drivers, teams and more.

Seems Like More than just Downloadable Content
The F1 25: 2026 Season Pack DLC will retail for only $29.99, which is over half the price of a full-release game. However, this packs the punch of a full-release annual title with an overhaul featuring new cars and regulations for 2026. If you are unfamiliar, Formula One changed to a new car this season, that is smaller and relies more on batteries and management of those batteries. That will be here in this DLC, and it will be interesting to see how the experience plays out. The regulation changes have been controversial, and seeing this move over to a video game integration could raise some eyebrows.
You will find the latest rules and regulations for the sport in this update, along with the current lineup of drivers, teams and more.
The cars are smaller, lighter and feature active aerodynamics, so no longer will you be hitting the DRS button in specified zones. The cars will be more responsive no matter the controller input, plus an Overtake Mode will provide extra strategy for all drivers. New assist options for closer racing will also be available for novices. Players can either purchase the DLC for the $29.99, or a full version will be available for $49.99.

EA SPORTS F1 Series to Skip 2026 Release
EA has announced its future plans for the F1 series of games.
The circuits will also match 2026, along with the drivers and new teams. This means Cadillac is in the game, along with other driver changes that took place in the offseason. Updated liveries are here, along with the new MADRING circuit. This is the first new circuit added to the calendar since 2023, and it’s not a street circuit. While Madrid is in the background, this is a purpose-built track aimed for high speeds. This doesn’t appear on the calendar until September, so players will have an opportunity to try it out prior.
“The F1® 25: 2026 Season Pack marks the beginning of a bold new era for Formula 1,” said Lee Mather, Senior Creative Director at Codemasters. “With sweeping regulation changes and new teams and rivalries redefining the grid, players can experience the most significant evolution of the sport in over a decade. We are thrilled to bring these changes to players, including the incredible opportunity to race virtually on the MADRING circuit before the race, and look forward to sharing more soon.”
How EA and Codemasters got Here
There’s no denying that the EGO Engine is old. Codemaster and EA had moved the EA WRC game over to the Unreal Engine, but it wasn’t UE 5. There is experience there in implementing a new engine, which is why Codemasters decided to just do this DLC. The idea was to focus on this new refresh for 2027, albeit there have literally been years in the series’ releases that this has been all that has changed. These cars will move differently, but time will tell how battery management affects the racing.
F1 2014 was a release that was in between console generations. It was released on the previous generation console with no real changes, but a full price tag. This left many fans upset. However, many consider this and the prior year some of the best years in the series. If Codemasters and EA are aiming for 2027 with a new engine, are they aiming for next-generation consoles? You will be able to launch a career with the 2026 changes and race online. F1 25 released a year ago on a similar date, and has received multiple updates and content since its launch.
