I like games that are cosy and sad at the same time. Like, there’s a dystopian setting, but the visuals feel like they’re from a charming animated movie. Lost in Tandem exactly fits that category. A couch co-op puzzle game with hand-painted art.
And there are little emotional robot buddies, too
Lost in Tandem is set in a post-apocalyptic world. A cataclysm at the end of the 1990s wiped out the world as people knew it. But after decades without humans around, nature slowly reclaimed everything. So, the world is full of lush, colourful landscapes and strange relics from the early 2000s.
You play as a young girl who runs into an obsolete and defective robot called a Mech-ute. The little robot still has one thing left in its broken system. It’s a set of geographic coordinates for some unfinished mission.
So, the two decide to head out together across the world to figure out where those coordinates lead and what’s waiting at the end of the journey. The adventure is split into five distinct chapters, and each one has different biomes to explore.
You can play Lost in Tandem solo or team up with another person. It’s an asymmetrical co-op, so the girl and the Mech-ute both handle differently and have their own roles during puzzles and exploration. There’s even a mechanic where the girl can pilot the Mech-ute in a sort of hybrid form to unlock abilities and solve obstacles together.
You can find relics from the past, secret items, news clippings, and little breadcrumbs left behind that explain what happened to humanity and the seemingly humanless world. Also, there are stickers everywhere. You can collect them and slap them onto the Mech-ute.
Lost in Tandem is being developed by Tempete Studio and published by Juicebox Studios. Coming to PC via Steam, it will release in July 2026.
