One of the best games of 2025 is finally arriving on Xbox this month. Beloved by PS5 and PC gamers, Dispatch is set to launch on the Xbox Series X/S in a matter of weeks.
Described as “a superhero workplace comedy where choices matter”, Dispatch places players into the shoes of Robert Robertson III. A former superhero himself, Robertson is now a dispatcher for a dysfunctional team of villains-gone-good. Players are tasked with managing these misfit heroes and choosing who to send to emergencies around an alternate version of Los Angeles.
Hailed by critics for its interactive narrative, the episodic adventure game earned plaudits from gamers too. It has a Metacritic score of 89 on PS5, 87 on PC and 85 on Nintendo Switch 2.
The title is created by indie developer AdHoc Studio, which includes former Telltale Games and Ubisoft staff among its creative team. Staff who worked on games like The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us for Telltale were involved in Dispatch’s creation.
It features an impressive voice cast, including Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul as Robertson. Laura Bailey, Jeffrey Wright and Matthew Mercer are also involved.
Dispatch Xbox release date confirmed
Dispatch will land on Xbox on Wednesday, July 29, AdHoc has confirmed. While Dispatch won’t be available for Xbox One players, those on Xbox Series X/S consoles or Xbox on PC and Xbox Cloud will be able to play it.
The release on Xbox comes a whopping nine months after it was initially available on PS5 and Steam. The first two episodes launched on October 22, 2025.
Two new episodes released weekly until the final two on November 12. A port for the Nintendo Switch 2 arrived on January 28 this year.
However, the Switch 2 version garnered criticism and controversy over censorship claims when certain scenes were modified by default. Players on PS5 and Windows had the choice to toggle these on and off.
AdHoc has confirmed that the Xbox Series X/S release will be the same uncensored version as on PS5 and Windows. Fans have reacted with mixed feelings, as Xbox fans are delighted the game has finally arrived while others think it’s been too long since the original launch date.
One Reddit user said: “Tragically late as I expect many people have watched others play it already on YouTube as they couldn’t play it themselves.”
Another added: “Nice… took a while but glad it’s coming. Most likely to release day one with a sale too.
“Usually the Xbox games that come late come with a sale. But not all of them.”
