There are way too many cooking games out there these days, so it takes something really catchy to make one stand out. I feel like High Times – Dating/Cooking Sim is one of them. The premise is awesome: What if donuts could fix your emotional damage?
Developer and publisher Yangyang Mobile has dropped the game on Steam for PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. It’s a dating sim, a visual novel, a relationship drama, a comic book, and a therapy simulator all at once!
Tons of features in High Times – Dating/Cooking Sim
You manage The Hotbox, a one-of-a-kind donut shop in the city of San Mazo. You’re a Mood Confectioner, whose job is basically being a therapist. But your counselling sessions involve frosting instead of a couch.
In this world, people can literally eat their feelings because every donut is infused with mood enhancers that change customers’ emotions. If someone’s stressed, scared, heartbroken, or just completely lost, it’s your job to figure out what kind of donut they actually need.
High Times – Dating/Cooking Sim uses a fast-paced, multi-layered cooking system. You prepare everything from comforting classics to more avant-garde dishes for a whole cast of local regulars. Every ingredient you choose directly affects the emotional state of whoever eats it.
Outside the kitchen, you grow your business. You can create and evolve recipes, collect tips from customers, unlock advanced cooking tools for tougher culinary challenges, and spend your earnings on more than 100 decorations to customize your cafe.
Then there’s the relationship side. You’ll meet over 30 different customers, each with their own personalities, struggles, and secrets, while six of them can actually become romance options. Every romanceable character has between two and three different endings. And multiple endings exist for customers as well.
Visually, High Times – Dating/Cooking Sim uses a hand-drawn comic-book art style with over 70 vibrant animated illustrations. The neon colours are surely eye-catching, and it’s further accentuated by a full English voice cast, a catchy theme song, and an original soundtrack.
