The Eternal Life of Goldman is a 2D action-adventure indie game. What makes it worth checking out is its hand-drawn visuals and a really strange world inspired by ancient fables, legends, fairy tales, and myths.

Developed by Weappy Studio and published by THQ Nordic, The Eternal Life of Goldman is coming to PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. All the platforms (except Switch) have a free demo available.

You step into a huge Archipelago on a very weird mission: you’re supposed to kill a mysterious Deity. The funny part is that the Deity is a legendary mystical creature everybody talks about, but nobody has actually seen. So, you have to wander through a bunch of strange islands and start digging into their secrets.

The islands have a lot going on. You’ll find a place shaped by tragedy, eccentric characters, bizarre contrasts, and plenty of creatures. The main character also has a cane that you can upgrade with new parts, which then unlock new abilities.

Visually, The Eternal Life of Goldman is completely bonkers!

You’ll get a taste of old-school cartoons, comics, and games in this title. To bring that authentic, nostalgic design, the team used classic frame-by-frame techniques to draw, colour, and animate everything by hand.

The Eternal Life of Goldman demo covers the opening section of the game and gives you around 90 minutes of gameplay. The devs strongly recommend using a gamepad for the best experience, although keyboard and mouse controls are supported, too.

The Eternal Life of Goldman has complex scenes, robust characters, and a multi-layered narrative. No two rooms or landscapes look alike, and that attention extends to every object, character, and visual effect of the world.

Meanwhile, if you’re looking for a dark fantasy action-adventure instead, read our next scoop on 1666: Amsterdam Early Access This Month.
