If you have been following the next-gen console cycle, we believe you have gone through multiple reports hinting at delays for both Sony and Microsoft’s upcoming gaming consoles.

Almost every report that talked about PS6 or next-gen Xbox linked the delay to the ongoing situation of memory and storage issues. Some news outlets even went on to claim that Sony is reportedly considering a delay to 2028 or even 2029.

Take-Two CEO isn’t worried about PS6 and next-gen Xbox delays

However, a fresh statement from Take-Two’s CEO is now pushing back against the delay concerns. Despite what online reports suggest, CEO Strauss Zelnick doesn’t seem worried.

In a recent interview with The Game Business, he stated that the current component pricing and supply situation is not expected to affect the delivery of next-generation consoles to the market (via Wccftech).

Yes, it’s a brief statement, but given Take-Two’s position in the gaming industry as one of the biggest publishers, it carries weight. It’s not just the Take-Two CEO who is confident about PS6 and the next-gen Xbox console (Project Helix). Earlier this month, a well-known tipster, KeplerL2, also claimed that PS6 is still “on track” for a Holiday 2027 launch.

While Sony’s timeline appears uncertain, Microsoft hasn’t faced the same level of scrutiny so far. That said, reports from GDC suggesting next-gen Xbox “Project Helix” developer kits could arrive in 2027 have led to speculation that the console itself might launch later in the year.

At a time when hardware timelines are closely tied to major game releases, comments like this suggest that publishers may still be planning around a fairly stable launch window. While exact dates remain unclear, it appears that not everyone in the industry is convinced that delays are inevitable.
