Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero is a 3D arena fighting game developed by Spike Chunsoft and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment that was originally released in 2024. It is a direct sequel to the Dragon Ball Z: Sparking! series that is set to receive another update in the summer of 2026.
The developers have announced that Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero is set to receive its most ambitious expansion yet with the Super Limit Breaking Neo DLC. The update will introduce over 30 new playable characters, significantly expanding the roster and enhancing the overall experience.
The major roster update for Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero is its biggest shake-up since launch. For many of the new fighters this is their debut in the Budokai Tenkaichi series. This includes characters like Grandpa Gohan, Mercenary Tao, Champa and Super Saiyan Bardock.
A key highlight of the expansion is its focus on long-requested characters who were previously unavailable such as Zangya, Pikkon, Hell Fighter 17 and Nuova Shenron. By adding these fighters the update significantly expands the roster and revitalizes multiple story arcs, effectively rebuilding entire sagas with fresh character options and enhancing the overall gameplay experience for fans.
New battlegrounds and campaign in Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO Super Limit Breaking NEO
Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero introduces four visually impressive new stages designed to enhance cinematic battles. Locations like Kami’s Palace recreate iconic training grounds while Planet Vegeta Stratosphere brings to life the dramatic setting of Bardock’s confrontation with Frieza’s forces. These additions go beyond visual appeal as they include environmental hazards and interactive elements that actively influence gameplay.
The update also highlights the solo campaign in the game – Limit Breaker Journey. It is a standout feature offering branching scenarios that allow players to build deeper connections with their favorite characters. Players can progress through events, unlock unique rewards and carry their progress into online multiplayer battles.
The mode emphasizes meaningful character development over simple arcade grinding where each victory and training session contributes to a fighter’s growth. Additionally Survival Mode on Nintendo platforms introduces intense 208-character gauntlets, challenging players’ endurance and strategic thinking under high-pressure conditions.
